|

I have an odd problem. I have emerged bittornado successfully, but when I use it, after 5 minutes or so, my machine locks up hard and I have to manually reset.
I have run memtest, but the machine passed every test.
Any ideas? |

A runaway process or a memory leak perhaps? Try watching it with top. Just a thought, hope this helps. _________________ "No question is so difficult to answer as that to which the answer is obvious" -- George Bernard Shaw |

top didn't really help. Nothing's really pegging the machine - only 300 mb RAM used (out of 1 gb). Processors barely ticking over.
seems to be downloading fine, then everything just freezes. |

Likely a problem with your network card (hardware or software). The bittorrent protocol seems to really stress test networks.
From the bittorrent FAQ

BitTorrent makes my machine blue screen! What should I do?
If you have a DSL modem, especially an Alcatel, you should upgrade your drivers. If you have a Linksys network card, you may have to upgrade your network card drivers as well.

Obviously talking about windows but probably a good place to start looking. |
