Gentoo 1.4 rc-1 ppc is it upgradable?

I'm considering installing 1.4 rc-1 ppc, I read somewhere that the beta version of 1.4 will not be upgradable to the real version when it comes out, so you have to do a fresh install.

Will rc-1 be upgradable to a newer release candidate or the final 1.4 version once it comes out?

Yes, rc1 should be fully upgradable (in fact if things work out well it may end up being the final.

The only reason for the non upgradable beta was ABI changes in gcc. Technically it is upgradable, but not advised as it would likely take less time and work a lot better to just reinstall.
