Hi,
finally I decided to switch to reiserfs. But I've got a little problem. It takes hmmm... 4 or 5 seconds to mount. OK, the partitions are very big (120 GB and 60 GB). But 5 seconds are not normal, right? (ext2 and even ext3 just took below 1 second if I remember correct... if... *g*) |

Is this every time you mount them, or just the first time? I saw somewhat unusual slowness on the first mounting, but after that, it sped up considerably. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

It's always slow. But I've just made a "time" of my 120GB-mount.
real 0m8.050s (almost constant between several mounts)
user 0m0.000s (changes betwenn 00 and 10, mostly 00)
sys 0m0.040s (changes between 10 and 40, mostly 40)
I'm no filesystem expert. But doesn't it look like the fs-driver is searching for sth. and then aborting it due to a timeout or sth. like that? COULD it be, I've missed some codepages in my kernel? (hopefully not, I'm already compiling for the 10th+ time; damn ACPI ). And it doesn't spit out any warnings while mounting (like nls_cp_bla not found). |
