Hello,

I have a gentoo system with alsa, but I find annoying have to emerge alsa-driver all the time after recompiling the kernel ... there is any way I can get sound back without do emerge alsa-drver??

Hi!

Rename the ALSA-directory before and after rebuilding the kernel.

Or you could do an 'emerge --buildpkg alsa to' store the binaries. Then, whenever you need to reemerge alsa just 'emerge --usepkg alsa'. This way reinstalling alsa is done in 2 secs. :-)
