I had the original hard disk begin to error after a shut-down and was able to copy all the data from it to another drive using the CD to boot. The read errors were in an unimportant place, so I believe the copy should be good.
The problem I have is that after chrooting to the new drive and running silo, the OBP seems to still not boot from the new drive with the error "Can't open boot device". I had to mess with the geometry settings trying to get a valid Sun disklabel, and finally gave up and used a Solaris installer to do it (then repartitioned from the liveCD and recopied my old Gentoo install).
I have tried the -f option on silo as well as forcing the first and second loaders on the command line.
Any ideas on getting this new drive to boot?
