|
|
I am currently running gnome2.02rc1, which apparently allows applications to be added directly to the menu. When i click whatevermenu->Entire Menu->Add new item... it gives me a message saying "You cannot create a new launcher at this location since the location is not writable." However, I am able to delete items from the menu. I have tried this as root as well but with the same results. Any suggestions? Thanks |

I've tried to add that way.. and have had the same problem. I've just been adding launchers via Nautilus, which works fine with 2.0.2. |

Are you adding the launchers in /usr/share/applications? |

I'm using 2.0.1 and I can't figure out how to add to the applications menu either. Adding straight to the panel is easy, just right click, but the app menu does nothing when you right click.
So is there a way to customise the main application menu? Or just have to add buttons elsewhere?
Btw, I did figure out that if you look up the pid of gnome-panel and do kill -HUP it refreshes the apps in the menu, but some are still missing. |

2.0.2 is better - should be released by tuesday.
See the GUP for more discussion on this.

or just 'killall gnome-panel'
I'm not sure if this is fixed yet - will be in 2.2 for sure _________________ Mark Finlay - Gnome Hacker of Sorts
