|

Actually it's just the chipset because I have a laptop, but here's my problem: I added sound support for the Maestro2/3/Allegro in the kernel, and then I did everything that the desktop tutorial said, and I changed the sound card to ES1688 in the config file because I figured that's the closest I can get it. However it doesn't work, whenever Gentoo boots up it says that it can't load the module files but alsa is running fine (I think...). I read several posts that you have to change it to a module in the kernel, and I did that but I have no idea how to load modules or to do all that other fancy stuff you smarter people out there know how to do, so if someone could help me with my problem, that would be greatly appreciated! |

Alsa and kernel sound modules are separate things. See this thread for a good description. Also you can look up your sound card on the alsa sound card matrix _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..
