Did you upgrade to the latest version of have you installed it on a clean system? If you had to hack it to get an old version to work the new one may still work off that hack.

At the beginning of this year my primary hard drive crashed, and I had to rebuild my system from scratch (meaing fresh install on a clean system). I cannot remember for the life of me if I had to follow this procedure or not. I'm betting I didn't have to, but again, YMMV. It wouldn't hurt to try installing it, and if you run into these problems, follow this procedure. HTH.

ok, I'll give it a try and see. I've got quite a few invoices to create so it will be good to have it running again.

It worked! Or it appears to have. The only thing is that it used to show a uk pound sign for the currency, now it shows GBP. Any ideas how to get it back to a £?

Unfortunately I can't help you with that. My only suggestion would be to make sure that you built gnucash with nls support, and that's only a shot in the dark.

Nice try but already got it in.

[ebuild R ] app-office/gnucash-1.8.12 -chipcard -hbci +nls -ofx -postgres -quotes 0 kB

It used to do this on the ubuntu version, sometimes it would be £ sometimes GBP. I'll see if I can track down the developers and see what they say.
