Hi !
Could you please include the excellent Mail-Server "dbmail" (www.dbmail.org) in Gentoo Portage ?
The DBMail Server supports Mails in MySQL and other Databases, DB bases aliases management and other useful features and provides POP and IMAP access to messages.
Yours

I've been using dbmail for a small scale email server for over a year, and it is a great IMAP server.
I made an ebuild for it a while back that I placed in gentoo's bugzilla. I'm surprised that it hasn't been added to portage proper.
For that matter, I've made a lot of ebuilds and tested them and installed them, and put them in the bugs database. But none of them have been added. Who can we get to pay attention to those ebuilds?

Yep, i would also like this to be added to portage. DBMail is a great mail server - especialy when it comes to manageing a huge amount of email accounts.

Don't be surprised. There are many other ebuilds waiting for some Gentoo developer's love.
The #developers/#ebuilds ratio is not in good favour for the developers. It's the "too much (unpayed) work, too few hands" syndrome. And puting a new ebuild into Portage is not done with a 30 seconds cvs commit. Maintainance and bug fixing is not to be forgotten.
BTW I would like to have dovecot in portage. |
