im pretty sure the alsa driver is snd-card-(your soundcard driver) so for example if you use ensonique 1371 then its snd-card-ens1371 _________________ -Captain Entropy |

From my experience setting up ALSA -
Don't compile any sound modules or drivers into your kernel. But DO make sure Sound Card Support is compiled in.
Compile your kernel.
Emerge ALSA.
If using the gentoo-sources kernel, look in /lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r7/kernel/sound/pci for the correct module to add to /etc/modules.d/alsa (mine is snd-cmipci). Also look at /usr/share/doc/alsa-driver for tips.
If you re-compile your kernel, don't forget to emerge alsa afterwards. Seems the kernel modules clobber the alsa modules. |
