If you go to the trouble of removing a package shouldn't it come out of the world file?

(If something else depends on X, X can still update automatically as part of the larger update, but that should be in the background.)

Unemerge does not update the world file. I already submitted a bug report and the reply is: it is known and intentional. It's is not a bug.

Any explanation?

If I merge and then unmerge a package, updating world doesn't rebuild the removed package. There must be sometihng in place already.

Looks like it's getting 'round time to break out teh source code...
