Hello!
I just compiled kino and it looks nice!
The Problem is, it won't import any avis.
Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it just shows weird images that have nothing to do with my avis. All avi-related stuff like codecs and so on are installed but it wont even play a pure uncompressed avi.
Any ideas?
(compiled with gcc3.2 on a 3.2-system) _________________ linux user 65882 |

I did a search in the forums and found this other thread that seems to indicate other people (see red2's comments) have not had good luck with it either, unfortunately.

I did some simple editing to test out an ebuild I was making. What kind of AVI file are you importing? Divx or DV. Anything outside of DV avi is handeled by MJPEGTOOLS that is inlcuded. |

I too have a GCC-3.2 system and I had to do the following to get Kino 0.5 installed and working correctly:
1. Compile and install libdv-0.9 from the source tarball.
2. Compile and install kino.
3. Uninstall libdv-0.9.
4. emerge libdv-0.98.
Kino wouldn't compile with 0.98 installed and wouldn't run with 0.9. So I had to compile Kino with 0.9 installed and run it with 0.98 installed. Strange... _________________ Erich J. Wahl
