Hi all
I've run into a peculiar problem setting up NIS. The server (running Gentoo 1.1a) is running, but when I run ypbind -d on the client (also running Gentoo 1.1a I get the following output;
parsing config file
Trying entry: domain blahblah.org server nisserver
parsed domain 'blahblah.org' server 'nisserver'
add_server() domain: blahblah.org, host: nisserver, nobroadcast, slot: 0
[Welcome to ypbind-mt, version 1.7]
ping host 'nisserver', domain 'blahblah.org'
Pinging all active server.
last two lines keep repeating, but the domain is not bound.
I've been through the NIS HOWTO a half dozen times, everything appears to be in order, yet here I am... stuck.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what I can try I'd be very appreciative
TIA
FiendX

I'd like to learn!
Please tell, how did you fix it? I'm having the same issue you did. I thought I followed the NIS howto correctly, but I obviously didn't as NIS isn't working.
thanks |
