I am looking for a program that works from the command line,
just to grab a picture from my webcam in order to test it.

Kernel Messages look good so far, but I would like to see it work.

Quote:

Sep 4 14:25:38 main kernel: Linux video capture interface: v1.00
Sep 4 14:25:38 main kernel: pwc Philips PCA645/646 + PCVC675/680/690 + PCVC730/740/750 webcam module version 8.6 loaded.
Sep 4 14:25:38 main kernel: pwc Also supports the Askey VC010, Logitech Quickcam 3000 Pro, Samsung MPC-C10 and MPC-C30,
Sep 4 14:25:38 main kernel: pwc the Creative WebCam 5, SOTEC Afina Eye and Visionite VCS-UC300 and VCS-UM100.
Sep 4 14:25:38 main kernel: usb.c: registered new driver Philips webcam
Sep 4 14:25:38 main kernel: pwc Philips PCVC740K (ToUCam Pro) USB webcam detected.
Sep 4 14:25:38 main kernel: pwc Registered as /dev/video0.
Sep 4 14:25:38 main kernel: usb.c: registered new driver snd-usb-audio

I searched but I haven't found anything yet that I can emerge ...
Something where I can just tell the cam to make one pic and store it locally., nothing too complicated.

thanks in advance.

Hi,

Don't know which are in the portage tree, but these are some webcam-programs :

- QAstrocam : nice qt application, geared towards astronomy but useful for other applications too
- xawtv : yes, this should work to give a moving image
