I upgraded from a GF4 Ti 4200. The difference is more noticable at higher reslolutions and when using AA and AF.
A7N8X, k7 3000+, 512Mb Kingston HyperX, FX5900.
linux-2.6.2 vanilla kernel, nvidia driver 5336. |

This test is running low-res so of course it will be cpu dependant. Run it at >= 1280x960 and you will see a different story. |

I mention my MB because it's AGP bus is a piece of crap, it only supports 4x AGP and I can only run it at 2x AGP and I have to disable SBA and FW or I get random hard lockups(same with a previous AGP card).
From what I've seen here, my slow CPU probably doesn't help much either. _________________ The Congress shall have power...To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries; --U.S. Constitution. Well , for me is 1024x768 is high-res, I normally play 1024x768 or 1280x1024 for better distanse accurasy with 16bit low details for constant framerate and better visibility. High quality details often distrub finding targets and enabled effects lower the framerates and change mouse sensivity at undesireble times.
But its a personal preference, (also an advantage over the ones with all gfx on). On the other side i never really saw any differences on 1280x1024 w/ or without antialiansing or such stuff like tripple buffering. I think theese are merely marketig features to make people buy new products. |

well when you have 12 bots, it is CPU dependant, do a flyby benchmark to single out the video card as the bottleneck. Botmatch's have and always will be CPU dependant (until AI is done by the vid card). |

I think someone already mentioned this, but you can safely ignore that message. Read up here about it, http://icculus.org/lgfaq/#launcheveryxig. |

they did but that explanation is crap, it just says it's nothing to worry about.
but i now guess that is not causing the benchmark to crash, it is actually where the benchmark ends and that message is just displayed. (so does the benchmark end with a guy in mid-air after 3 rockets?) |

Well actually its not, because it has nothing to do with the benchmark itself. As the original poster of this thread said, bechmark results are in:
~/.ut2004demo/Benchmark/Results
I think you are assuming that the bechmark results will be displayed after you finish the bechmark (which by the way does end with 3 rockets). |

how were my results.... |

The benchmark finishes straight after the guy fires the 3rd rocket. That's normal, it will just stop without any messages. To see your results you have to open the text file .ut2004demo/Benchmark/benchmark.log in your home directory. |
