When I try to mount the floppy I get Quote: | mount: /dev/fd0 is not a valid block device |
In dmesg I can see an error message:
Quote: | Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M
floppy0: Floppy io-port 0x03f2 in use |
cat /proc/ioports does not show any conflicts Quote: | 03f0-03f1 : PnPBIOS PNP0c02
03f3-03f3 : PnPBIOS PNP0c02 |
With previous Linux installations I had a similar error ony with Mandrake 8.1. With adding nobiospnp as a kernel command the error went away. With linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r7 this does not work and in
kernel-parameters.txt there is nobiospnp anymore.
dev information:
bash-2.05a# ls -l /dev/fd0
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 8 Aug 31 2002 /dev/fd0 -> floppy/0
bash-2.05a# ls -l /dev/floppy/0
brw-rw---- 1 root root 2, 0 Jan 1 1970 /dev/floppy/0 |

Did you add FAT filesystem support in your kernel? |

Yes, and it works. I can mount a hard disk partition with -t vfat. |
