I want to read Japanese newsgroups using slrn. I am using LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.UTF-8 and LANG=en_US. Japanese works fine in mutt and vim.

Messages are not decoded properly in slrn.

I understand that you need to edit .slrnrc for character set and mime types, but I don't know what to enter.

I also haven't been able to successful create a ja_JP.SJIS locale. I tried:
Code:
localedef -v -c -i ja_JP -f SJIS /usr/share/locale/ja_JP.SJIS

but that didn't seem to do it.
