|
|
I've made sure NTFS support was compiled in with the kernel and when I try to mount, I get the error msg..
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda1,
or too many mounted file systems
Any idea why this is coming up? What is the max number of file systems you can have mounted at a time? Please help; all I want to do is listen to my MP3s. |

What is the exact mount command you tried? If you added a line to /etc/fstab, what does it look like? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

mount -t ntfs /dev/hda1 /mnt/winxp
/mnt/winxp exists... and my fstab is...
/dev/hda1 /mnt/winxp ntfs owner,uid=1000,gid=1000,d=1000,async,ro 0 0 |

Type cat /proc/filesystems
Does it list NTFS?
If not maybe you need to load the module or compile in the NTFS statically. |

U R sure it is an NTFS-partition? Try this:
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/winxp
If it doesn't work do a 'fdisk -l /dev/hda' and post the ouptu here... |

Just tried it.
mkdir /mnt/ntfs
mount -t ntfs /dev/hda1 /mnt/ntfs
Works fine for me =) |

Worst case scenario, scrap all those options and add them in one by one, mounting and unmounting.
I mount NTFS all the time, and I use the following command line:
mount -o umask=000,ro /dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c
(umask is set to 000 to have read access across the board.. not like anyone could ever write to it.)
I'm modularized here...
ntfs 48768 1 (autoclean) |

Technically, this may not apply directory to this thread, but it might be nice to have an answer to the following as part of the thread...
Could it be a problem of the NTFS partition being on a "dynamic" disk as apposed to a "basic" disk?
Does this make any difference to the Linux NTFS driver?

No difference to the driver, but if it's on a dynamic disk, you have to have dynamic disk partition table support in the kernel. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
