I'm installing Gentoo for the first time, and every time I get to the point where it's time to do emerge system I get the following error immediately:
>>> emerge dev-lang/python-2.2.1-r2 to /!!! The digest /usr/portage/dev-lang/python/files/digest-python-2.2.1-r2 appears to be corrupt. Aborting.!!! emerge aborting on /usr/portage/dev-lang/python/python-2.2.1-r2.ebuild.
I tried reading the aforementioned file with nano but it shows up as being something like 62 bytes long and empty. Hum.
I've read the included docs and searched around on this forum for a solution, but either can't find it or don't recognize it.
I'm using the 1.2 iso 2nd stage and emerge rsync runs fine.
Any help on this would be _greatly_ appreciated. |

Ok, try this:
| Code: | rm /usr/portage/dev-lang/python/files/digest-python-2.2.1-r2
cd ..
ebuild python-2.2.1-r2.ebuild digest
emerge python-2.2.1-r2.ebuild

At the risk of sounding paranoid, realize that if you do this, you are effectively subverting the check that Portage makes against corrupted or trojaned source tarballs, so be extra careful.
