I'm probably nr 5000 with a quake3 problem but i can't seem to solve the problem so i'm trying this forum...
I'm using gentoo 1.4 (hidden stage1 tarball) with fluxbox. I installed the nvidia drivers and everything works fine, except for the quake3 arena demo from the idsoftware site.

I'm getting the following error :

./q3demo.x86: relocation error: ./q3demo.x86: undefined symbol: atexit

any ideas?
Is there a way to verify if the nvidia drivers are correctly installed (except for the fact that i het the nvidia flash at xwindow startup and everything works fine)

Thanks

while reading the other posts i came across this one :

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=13222

where El_Presidente_Pufferfish makes the following statement :

glibc-r7 got masked because of atexit problems when extracting binaries or something

Can this be my problem? How do I check what version of glibc i have and what is this atexit thing anyway?

I'm using 1.4 and I just emerge quake3 and had bought the CD from a local store for $5 for Linux that way I would have a legit KEY.

Don't know if that helps.

You can check which version of glibc you are running by entering
Code:
emerge -s glibc

at a console. If it is glibc-2.2.5-r7 then try this at a console
Code:
emerge rsync
emerge --update glibc

You may then need to logout and then re-login. If that doesn't work (or if your glibc is version 2.2.5-r6) then you could try reinstalling quake3.
