Hello!
I installed alsa following the desktop-guide and it works fine for ordinary audiofiles but not for midi-files. When I try to playback a midi-file with kmid, kmid complains it wouldn't have access to /dev/sequencer. But this device file actually doesn't exist. As gentoo relies on devfs, all known howto's I've found on the web didn't help a lot. I have a soundblaser PCI 64 card in my computer.
Do you know how to set up the system that it would replay midi-files?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You might need a line similar to this in /etc/modules.conf Code: | alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss | I'm guessing snd-seq-oss is a sequencer. Might depend on how you have sound configured. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

In my understanding this is not exactly true.
ALSA has its own sequencer: snd-seq
which for a reason is not loaded at boot |
