I'm a bit of a newbie.. I'm currently dual booting Win2k and mandrake 8.2 (on the same hd) but I want to get rid of mandrake and try gentoo. I'm currently using lilo as a boot manager. What would be the best procedure for prepping my system for a gentoo install? Ie. should I format my linux partitions first and get rid of lilo by formatting the master boot record, or what? Thanks for any help.. |

This document is worth a read. Not exactly what you're trying to do, but many of the same steps will apply.
