Hi!
Okey i have tsop modded xbox with cromwell bios and i want to install gentoo to my xbox, but i dont want gentoox.
Can someone write some step to step help to do this? I have allready downloaded images: livecd-xbox-20050205.iso and livecd-xbox-20040823.iso,
but 2005 cd doesn't work, 2004 livecd works. I dont need X, because it comes somekind of server (little one) only for web and irssi.
Thanks a lot for the nice guys who wants to help me :)

hows the compile times compared to gentoox running in loopback?
i had gentoox pro on mine for a while but compiling libs put me off it (couldnt do a native install due to my chip`s bios rewriting the partition table after bios upgrade)

A native install of Gentoo is very usable, though compile times of things like kde are still nothing like they could be due to the lack of memory:)

My xbox I set up a month or so ago is doing sterling work as dvb recorder. MythTV's backend using a hd cache struggles, but kaffeine works great, dvb from a USB1.1 dvd box, dvd's better than M$'s solution, and of course divx's...

I used to run Gentoo on my xbox, but it has its limitations.

I found the latest XBOX Media Center, (which uses mplayer), works just as well and easier for everyone in the family.
The support for streaming videos and radio stations is integrated now and easy to use.

I'm having problems compiling the source also. What sort of errors did you have? Are they the same as mine:

Please let me know,

Thanks,

My compile problems were due to mounting my nfs root "async" instead of "sync". now that that is solved I'm the proud owner of an Etherboot diskless xBox with a Fatx swap.
