When you install new apps, does it show up on the kde menu?

If you emerge and install some applications, does it automatically show up on the KDE or Gnome or enlightenment start menu? If not, how can I add the apps such as Mozilla and other apps that I install??

I can help you with the KDE part of it...not sure about Gnome or Enlightenment. I dont use gnome much at all and i have not used the other for more than five minutes

For kde under the click on the "K" (i think they call that the kicker) then click system>kAppfinder. Then it will scan your system for new programs and add them to the menu. I suppose you can also do Run>KAppfinder.

I have manually added icons for mozilla using the menu editor in KDE. Not sure of all the steps and I am not at my gentoo workstation at the moment. Will try and repost tonight when I get home.

Some apps do, some apps don't.
In some cases you might have to restart your KDE/Gnome session for changes to take place -- I believe such is the case with KOffice.

You can always add shortcuts in case they're not created automatically though.
