|
|
when i start k3b i get several errors all of which fall into 2 basic catagories, something about scsi emulation that im not gonna worry about yet, and that i need to run K3bSetup to give various processes root privilages. When i try to run K3bSetup it says "Could not find kdesu to run K3bSetup with root privileges. Please run it manually as root." when i try to run kdesu (as root) there is no such process. Basically i have no idea whats going on. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

just run k3bsetup as root, when you do that you'll set everything up so that you dont' have to be root to run k3b. |

when you su to root do you type "su" or "su -" I'm not sure if it will make any difference but you might want to try both of them. I'm not sure exactly what it changes but I know it does change something... |

im gonna guess su - is very similar to first suing and then doing a source /etc/profile but its a useful shortcut. Doing that keeps me from getting the error at the beginning but K3bSetup still wont run without that error and kdesu still doesen't exist. |

after i finally managed to install kde itself (it was being stupid) the error changed to:
"There was an error loading the module."
"The diagnostics is:
Library files for "libkcm_k3bsetup2.la" not found in paths
Possible reasons:
- An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control module
- You have old third party modules lying around.
Check these points carefully and try to remove the module mentioned in the error message. If this fails, consider contacting your distributor or packager."
does anyone have a clue whats going on? _________________ alsa rules!
