|
|
I've been using linux for a while, but I've only been using Gentoo and XFS about a month. It is my understanding that XFS supports ACLs. According to SGI, I need to use chacl to set them. Is there a particular package I must install, or something I have to set in my USE variable, to be able to use ACLs? I don't need them with samba, I just want to have certain files accessible to multiple users without creating extra groups (and without root having to do all the work, so that users can take care of it themselves). Had no luck finding a solution in old forum messages or bugs.gentoo.org Thanks in advance for any help! |

Did you try emerge -s?
Code: | kurtl@m3 clients $ emerge -s acl
Searching...

* net-misc/icaclient

* sys-apps/acl

Note: I don't use XFS, so I'm not sure if they really are in the sys-apps/acl package. Sure looks like a good place to start, though.

I'm *almost* sure I've already tried that, and it certainly sounds like what I need I did start a job with 12.5-hour overnight shifts just this weekend, though, so maybe I didn't try everything I thought I did. Thanks lots, hopefully this will take care of things. |
