Hi, I just got a ppc 6115cd with a 601 cpu.
that's what I figured out: linux supports in general the 601 cpu but not all ppc linux distributions do.
the ppc installation guide of gentoo mentions "[..]At this time Nubus machines are unsupported[..]".
Is this somehow on the todo list. Well, I could wait a few months with the installation ...
Just curious. shouldn't that be just a matter of kernel options or patches?

You'd have to patch in the nubus kernel patches to the stock kernel, and then put it on the box. It would work, but it would be very slow. Not to belittle your computer, but you can get one about twice as fast as it for $40 USD via ebay. =)

Is where you can find information regarding the kernel patches required. I'd start with a stock vanilla kernel and patch it.
