I still wonder why we are not getting a own forum for amd64, should be much more organised and much better to attract new users etc.

Sparc and PPC have there own forum, we can use one also.

I've successfully compiled the following masked packages

- kde-3.1.5 (except kdemultimedia-3.1.5 that doesn't compile and thus kdeaddons-3.1.5)
- xemacs (except app-xemacs/emerge-1.09 that I had to built independently)

I got it working later on today .... I had to install the emulation packages, and then prodvd would run from the cli and xcdroast revognised it as being there ..... working fine now ..

Its a pity it won't run native, but the response I had back from the author was ... well rude and arogent, so I don't hold mucjh hope for that!

@regnnick, I've updated the list, thx.

New results...
Working:

K3B 0.10.3-r2
cdrdao 1.1.7-r2
normalize 0.7.6-r1

Now, CD writing and DVD writing works just fine for me... ;-)

are the ebuild maintaners doing anything to rectify the fact that there are a lot of working masked ebuilds for the x86_64 or is there any help we can give them?

mb4guns & I offered some help (in #gentoo-amd64 on FreeNode), but I understand you have to be programmer with access to the gentoo cvs (I think thats the deal).

So we couldn't help, but you may :)

This thread was more to show others thinking about swapping to a 64bit platform which applications will work, so it may sway them into going 64bit if all the apps they need work.

Then a amd64 forum may go ahead
