|

I stumble quite by accident on Monit, a daemon for monitoring processes. I was quite suprised to find an ebuild for it in Portage.
I was wondering if any one using it could tell me how well it integrates into the Gentoo ressource configuration system (init.d)?
Anyone heard about security issues about it?
How does it compare to Bernstein's daemontools?
That's about the only missing faeture I'd wish to have on my server, something to respawn processes that dies on hickups.

I'm currently exploring the use of monit on a 2650 server I'm setting up, so I can post back with any success (or lack thereof) that I have.
If you're looking for something to respawn processes, you may want to look at the psmon perl script. However I doubt you'd want to use it with init.d. |
