I know this absolutely not Gentoo related , but does anybody know if and how you can disable the startup beep right after you power on the computer (and this would be an ibook2radeon for me)? Does OpenFirmware allow this?

if you mute the audio you won't hear it. I would suggestt adding an audio mute to your shutdown scripts and then on startup set the volume back on |

OK, that's an interesting way to solve it, but I havn't bothered configuring the soundcard soo far. I think it's quite ironic that I would first have to configure the sound just to be able to shut it up (which adds to the fact that this is an interesting way to solve it)
I was hoping to find a way to not play the sound instead of muting it, but I will give this a try.
Thank, |

I was interested in knowing this as well. I have found it effective to mute prior to shutdown, but I will post if I have the time to research and I find something of interest about openfirmware. Thanks. |
