I have a Pioneer DVD 105 (IDE) DVD player, the current Xine from the portage tree same with d4d, d5d, dvdnav, etc.
Code: |
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.2 for DVD access
libdvdread: Could not open device with libdvdcss.
libdvdread: Can't open /dev/dvd for reading
vm: faild to open/read the DVD
|
That's the error I'm getting when I run Xine from CLI and use a DVD.
Code: |
mount /dev/dvd /mnt/dvd
mount: block device /dev/dvd is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: No medium found
|
That's the error I get when I try to mount the dvd drive. At one time not too many Xine versions ago (0.9.8 iirc) I had everything working. Now I see that d4d and d5d don't show up on my Xine GUI menu after they're installed. Has anyone currently got this working and if so how? |

First, to mount a DVD you need to have UDF support in the kernel. Second, if you are using the latest xine ebuild (0.9.13) it seems that d4d and d5d will not work, at least not for me. I don't use the CLI but with the GUI I found that DVD never works but I used dvdnav just fine, although it seems to make the dvd skip. After seeing these problems I went back to xine 0.9.12 with d5d because it seems more stable (although whenever I stop a DVD I get kicked out of fluxbox).
