|

Hello everyone,
I recently got the chance to emerge X. After an hour long compile, apparently X is broken. After running xf86config a few times, I tried starting x with the startx command. However, when I issue the command startx, the console just sits there, not echoing anything to the screen or doing anything. I can exit with ctrl-c and there is absolutely no messages. Does anyone know what's wrong? Thanks!

Not sure if it's the same problem, but maybe this can help? |

No, my problem is not quite the same problem as the one described in that post. The prompts and everything that I typed previously is still there, it's just startx and sits there and performs nothing. |

Check /var/log/XFree86.0.log
There should be some error messages there... |
