Has anyone played blackand white with the binary release of the new winex? I am getting horrible performance. I have a 1.2 athlon, geforce3, and 512 megs of ram, and it's choppy at 800x600 with no AA. Is it my computer or winex? Or is it that fact that X is taking up 200+ Megs of my ram. I log into gnome and top says that 95% of my 512 megs of ram are full !!!

Just under Gnome and nothing else 95 percent of RAm is being ueed that seems very very high. What does your /etc/hosts file look like, I remember seing a post about Gnome running really poorly if you didn't have your machine's IP in your /etc/hosts file |

Having 95% of your RAM used is normal; most of that is likely from the kernel caching portions of block devices (like your hard drive) in RAM. If you want to know how much programs are taking up, consult free; top lies. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

line72: See that second line "-/+ buffers/cache" in the free output? That says you have 56 megs of RAM allocated and 458 megs free.
I can't get B&W to even run (I'm using the latest winex ebuild)... I get this:
Code: | dice@Gentoo Black & White $ winex runblack.exe
GetModuleHandleA succeed
LoadLibrary returns baaa0000 |
And this dialog box:

The current winex ebuild is only 8 days old, do I really need to get the CVS version or am I missing something here? |

Do you have to be a transgaming member to get the binaries? |
