I occasionally run some steam games. I also occasionally update portage . Last time I did so, it struck me that I hadn't seen Steam being updated (that's steam-launcher, steam-meta, etc.). Then I noticed I no longer had the steam overlay enabled, which tickled my memory. A vague recollection that I no longer need it.
Do I correctly remember that now I have a working "steam" in userland - i.e. part of my KDE desktop, I no longer need to maintain the Gentoo steam packages? I read the wiki entry, but I'm not sure whether I need to do all that stuff if I have a working steam client, which I do. _________________ Greybeard |

Steam usually takes care of it self once it's installed.
However, some dependencies might change, some udev-rules might not get pulled in etc.
"My" gentoo wiki still recommends the steam-overlay. So far, it has served me well. _________________ Kali Ma
