|
|
Well aware how to SSH -Y user@<IP> gui_app, I may wish to launch GUI app from a SSH terminal session, e.g. SSH [-Y] user@<IP>...
Is it possible?
Any pre-requisite?

Not sure whether I understand your question.
If your question is whether you can first run a remote shell with ssh -Y and then start one or more X apps from within that shell (in contrast to starting a single app instead of the shell), then the answer is: "yes, of course" - the shell does not change the environment. |

Ouch! Me silly again...
Remote x11-base/xorg-server is likely installed to prevent running as root.
My failing use case was root account based /etc/portage maintenance.
Guess it's time to fallback to x11-base/xorg-server allowed user as it indeed works fine.
Luckily emacs allows such a user to edit as root.
That will hopefully force me to write an emacs package to ease atomic file based /etc/portage editing, one file for each package and each etc/portage/env.
