Where to get a fb.modes files

I am having problems running the resolutions and refresh rates I want in framebuffer modes. I've seen there's an utility called fbset that lets you to try and change resolutions "on the fly", but it seems to need a fb.conf file I don't know where to get.
Could anyone tell me where to find this file?

That's 'fb.conf' and not 'fb.modes', right? I checked the source from a link referenced here, and couldn't find any mention of an 'fb.conf'. There were several sample 'fb.modes' files, however.
