Enemy Territory is my favorite. I can play it hours after hours without doing anything else... My personal record is 27hrs straight playing.. I took only some short breaks to find something to eat and drink

There are a lot of really addictive games out there. A couple which I have found to be the most addictive are:
Asheron's Call (The frist one)
Neverwinter Nights
Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic...
I stayed up for about a week straight playing kotor.
Too bad it doesn't have much replay value... or is that a good thing?
I know I could play it again and be on the dark side, but it's just not in my nature to be "evil" ... I'd be forcing my self to play it that way and it wouldn't be fun. When I finished the game, my light side bar was off the screen. _________________ Stupid bug, you go squish now!

I was playing a translation of Dragon Quest 6, and I'm totally stuck on this one part, with nothing online or IRC helping me (I looked too! I spent much time leveling up characters, not to just simply not play anymore). So I need a new RPG. Played the classics like earthbound, chrono trigger, and such. Never play BOF or FF3. FF3 I could never get past the intro was boring. Anyway if someone doesn't read this and make a suggestion than I'll just re-play Dragon Warrior 4 for NES because it Pwnz and finally figure out what to do at cascade caves to get metal babbale last piece, after I erased the file. Oh well. PM ME as to not spam this posters thread... any more. I'm just notorius for spamming and long posts lately. |
If by FF3 you mean the european/us release, which is actually FF6, then you REALLY should try actually playing it. FF4 (eu/us FF2) too. Once you get past the graphics, which aren't very impressive even for a 1991 game (FF4), you'll see that the gameplay makes up for it. They are both real classics, and the storylines are at least as good as Chrono Trigger, which I also consider one of the greatest games of all time. |

I would have to say REDEMPTION (while cleching fist)...a craptastic game made by myself for a school project. Did I mention it's set in the depths of Hell and that you must defeat all baddies? Oh yes, Oh yes! hahahah
All joking aside, I would have to say for Linux ... Freeciv _________________ I really wish I could put something witty here.

Lately I found the following games just suck all the time out of my life:
Of the above, only Carnage Blender work directly in Linux. You need wine for the other two. |

My list of most addictive games:
1.) The Ur-Quan Masters (Star Control 2): I found this game 3 days ago in portage and I'm already pretty badly addicted.
2.) Nethack: I just wanna find out, which will the cause of my death this time.
3.) Fish Fillets: I have uninstalled it, because it's so addictive, I didn't do anything else. _________________ "I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." - Douglas Adams |

The whole Gothic-series. It's one of the games which avoids me from deleting Windows _________________ e17 documentation | Be free and use Jabber as your IM! | Combine IRC and IM |

For me, just about any multi-player RTS game is very addicting, which is why I've stayed away from them.
However, the one game which I have been playing for years, and even more so the past few now that we have the net and some more than competent software is Backgammon.
One of the oldest games in history (maybe older than Chess) that combines strategy, skill, and luck. If you know how to play it right, it will hang with you for years. If you don't, you might as well be playing Yatzee.
GnuBG (in portage) can and will kick your butt (if you're in to this game). And then it will tell you why.
I can play it just about anywhere (I've even got a version running on my PocketPC), and since GnuBG is so good, I always have a worthy opponent.

For me the current champion is Neverwinter Nights.
However the all time champion is clearly Nethack.
I still play Nethack and Angband occasionally. |

NWN, Dialo II, Civ 3
No other games have had me up all night and debating calling in sick to work the next day.
I actually had two friends (roommates) who managed to play Civ 3 24 hours a day for about two weeks. One would stay up all night playing it, then hand over the keyboard to the other at 7 am when he was ready to pass out. She'd play it until he got home from class, then hand it over so she could go to her night classes.
Naturally they both ended up missing a ton of school and sleep due to this play schedule |

| I just emerged rRootage, and I must say, it is a very intense experience. I'll need to be careful to avoid 'one more level' syndrome. |

Hmm...
- ADOM - my roguelike of choice
- Starcraft - a great game for pwning friends (since one license grants you 8 players)
- XCOM: UFO Defense - pretty much the best game ever, sadly, no clone or sequel I've played matches its awesomeness
- Stubbs the Zombie - Awesome, brain-eating fun (not free, old, or for linux, though)
- Civilization [insert number here] - Please, fail me now
Soo much NetHack love, and I still don't get why. T.o.M.E. and ADOM have always been more fun for me (maybe I just like acronyms). Guess I'm the worst geek ever. |

Quake !!!!
Released in june 1996 and I started playing multiplayer in august 1996. This summer I've played for 10 years... Im getting old. :)
I remember the very first time I tried the game though. Me and a friend installed the game at my dad's work. After we gained control of the computers from the ppl working there we started playing. I remember asking my friend "mmm its lonely here. Where are the enemies?" :)
Ah...the good old days....
I still play Quake on a daily basis but not at much as I did before. I used to play >4 hours a day and during the weekends >7hours/day....Nowaways I try to limit myself to playing max 1 hour... I am/was a real addict.
I used to be in the top 3 of Belgian Quakers. I'm very competitive when it comes to multiplayer games.
When I was 17 I got sponsored by Intel, visited some cool LAN-parties in Paris, Sweden, even the CPL in Korea, and they payed for everything and provided the hardware. But then I went to university so I wouldn't have had enough time to play as much as I did before. That's why I broke the contract. It was a sad decision but it was the right thing to do.
(Btw, I DONT want to start an Intel <-> AMD flame war, if AMD had approached me with the same offer, I would have gone with their proposal as well)
Other games I played a lot: Mortal Kombat 3 on my Sega Megadrive II. I used to Belgian #1 MK3 player...as I said, competitive...
Dungeon Keeper and Carmageddon also took away a part of my social life. |
