what is the right way to configure kde's sound server when using alsa?
do you let it start arts , or do you disable it altogether?
there're 2 problems i am having with alsa....xmms and xine running at the same time the volume controls for either only effect xine....the other is more important...quake 3 in kde (i have arts running as of this post) starts then i get no quake3 but a readjusted screen size in kde running 800x600 ....in fluxbox however quake3 runs fine so i think this is because of an options line need for q3 in alsa which conflicts with arts?
anyone? |

Hmm, sounds like the problem I've experienced too.....
I've reinstalled Gentoo last week and set the arts sound server in the control center to use alsa as Sound I/O method. I also set the sound quality to 16 bits, but this last thing should not make any difference. _________________ Cheers

how did you tell it to use alsa? ...i saw 'use custom sound device' but wasnt sure what to tell it to use...like syntax or path taht was correct.
so when you did this did it work?...and did you leave arts to start with kde since (assuming it worked) it was now using alsa? |
