Hi my questions are for the --usepkg (-k) emerge option:
1. If I want to work with binary packages (generated with -b *.tbz2) is the /usr/portage/packages
the only place to put them? I put all my generated packages on the FTP so on every installation
I need to copy them on the machine where I do installation. Can emerge download binaries
"on the fly" from http/ftp/rsync archive?
2. Need the packages directory to be with structure:
All
net-libs/
net-libs/....
x11-libs/...
...
or I can put everything in one directory ( /usr/portage/packages/ or /usr/portage/packages/All) |

Not AFAIK. But, if it's a local mirror, can you use NFS or something and emerge off of what appears to be a local directory? _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

I'm thinking to try OpenAFS if remote downloads are impossible. Or maybe samba is better
choice? |
