I have got Gentoo up & running but I have no CD-rom icon on Desktop (Gnome 2.2)

How do I set up CD-rom icon & does this apply to all the icons I need ?

i don't use gnome, but you'll have to put some entries in /etc/fstab in order to mount CD's. Please search this forum for help on that, there are several threads about it like this one.

i don't know if gnome is going to put an icon for mounting your cd-drive automagically on your desktop, but you should be able to do it manually if not - something like right clicking on the desktop and 'add drive', don't know.

Hi

Do you mean you cannot mount cds at all, or just from the desktop. Does it work from the command line, eg.
Code:

mount /mnt/cdrom

With the lineyou have in fstab, you will need to do this as root. If you want to do this as a user simply add users, to the options header.
