Howdy all, I was hoping to get some feedback on which motherboard I should buy. I'm building a replacement for a Tivo box (using mythtv). Here's what I'd really like to get on an ATX motherboard
1) SPDIF 6 channel audio output
2) gigabit NIC (not a deal breaker)
3) hyperthreading support
4) SATA/RAID that works in linux?
I was looking at an asus p4g8x deluxe http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?langs=09&m=P4G8X%20Deluxe but I noticed that it uses a silicon image 3112A SATA controller. I've heard people complaining about this controller.
Anyway, I hope someone out there has more information on the subject than myself. _________________ I was born with a freakin' dice bag on my belt.

Well, I'll give you a mixed answer. I am waiting for delivery of parts for a new MythTV box, but I'm building it around the ATI PVR-350 and a mini-ITX (VIA C3 800 MHz). I didn't need 5.1 for this app, and probably don't even need as much CPU, but I figured it would be nicer during emerges.
However, a few months ago I got a desktop MB that might fit your specs, the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP. It has a crappy sound (i810), but nothing an Audigy wouldn't fix. It has on-board e1000, sata, raid, nice fast fsb, etc. It's a really nice board.
