Gentoo 1.3a or 1.3b

What is the difference between those two?

Well not to state the obvious, but 1.3b is the updated version. The actual package differences and version differences I do not know. But unless you are trying to avoid some specific package version or something I would just go for the newer updated (fixed?) version, which in this case is 1.3b. I have been using 1.3b for over two weeks now, very happy with it! Although you might be more interested in 1.4. Maybe?

13-15 of August according to what I've heard/read. Yeah the ABI stuff will affect 1.3b because it uses GCC3.1 which is not ABI compatible with GCC3.2.

so does 1.4 have gcc-3.2 ?

From what the not of the 1.4beta says, the release 1.4 should have gcc 3.2 which inlcude the new ABI stuff
