I've recently become aware of the /var/cache/edb/world file, and I had a question about it getting somewhat out-of-date. Recently, the xscreensaver builds have been moved from app-misc to x11-misc, but the world file still says app-misc/xscreensaver. This doesn't seem to be much of a problem, but I imagine that it possibly could be at some time. Is it safe for me to just edit the file and make things work properly?
On a somewhat related note, dev-perl/SDL-sdlperl was recently renamed to dev-perl/sdl-perl. I noticed this because the excellent game Frozen Bubble requires these. If I were to re-emerge Frozen Bubble now, it'll install the new one without regard for the first. Is there some way to "tie" the two together so that new versions of sdl-perl appear to be upgrades for SDL-sdlperl?
Thanks . . .
Edit: Whoops, used "somewhat" twice in the space of about four words. :) |
