Hi,
i have installed BootX, which lauches on bootling in MacOS 9.
I have entered "cdrom" as root boot device. But i always get the following error message:
VFS: Cannot open root device "cdrom" or 00:cd
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mout root fs on 00:cd


can anybody help me how to get the computer boot from the CD?

You don't need the root= option, you need to open the options button and select the initrd.img as your ramdisk. Also make sure size is 24000 and rw as opposed to root= in the text box.

You don't need yaboot or grub as you have a oldworld mac.

PS. at 9 days compiling (gnome/galeon/pan/abiword/gnumeric/gnucash on a 7600/132Hz/144M) you will need to leave your mac on a long time. It is however the most stable/fast linux for my mac yet. Xfree took 14 hours, mozilla 8. The above is currently at 2G with compile peak (tmp files) at 3G.
