|
|
I grabbed the splash image given out at this thread https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=10527&highlight=grub+splash
I added it to the correct directory and edited the /boot/grub/menu.lst to find it. When i rebooted i saw the image come up but it had two problems
1) the image was larger than the resolution showing, so how do i change the grub resolution
2) the image couldn't show all its colors, so how do i modify grub to show more colors
thanks |

I had that problem too, but it was easy to fix with Gimp (emerge gimp).
Open the pic in gimp, right-click on it, select Image-->Mode-->Indexed...
Now you have it at the top ("generate optimal palette.." and select 14 as # of colours). and save your new pic (and gzip it, i suppose. remember to keep the file format as xpm) |

You can also use this GIMP plugin that does it all for you in one fell swoop
Also if you do it manually, remember that GRUB runs in 640x480 resolution. |
