Hi all,
On my third attempt I finally managed to build Gentoo from a stage1 install
Unfortunately when booting it says bringing up eth0 only for it to time out waiting for a response from dhcp.
My system has two network cards in it.....on install of gentoo dhcpcd eth0 configured my net connection fine and let me install/download from the net no problems.
What I'm looking for is a net conn through eth0 via my cable modem and a conn to other computers through eth1, I should add at this point that it brings up eth1 no problems.
the lines in my /etc/init.d/net file are as follows
iface_eth1="192.168.0.1 broadcast 192.168.0.255 netmask 255.255.255.0"
iface_eth0="dhcp"
broadcast_eth1="192.168.0.1"
netmask_eth1="255.255.255.0"
I have no idea if this is correct or not. I would like this computer to act as a dhcp server for the rest of the network so that the other pc's can connect to the internet through it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

A little bit more information for you all.
I compiled the driver for eth0 into the kernel (8139) so its not a module problem
The error(s) I get on bootup are as follows
*Bringing eth0 up...
dhcpcd[1882]: timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response
*Failed to bring eth0 up [!!]
*Bringing eth1 up... [ok]
*ERROR: Problem starting needed services.
* "netmount" was not started.
after that bootup continues normally with no problems... |

OK I managed to figure out why eth0 wasn't coming up....on bootup after install the cards were switched so what was eth0 on install is now eth1 and vice versa.
Any help configuring Gentoo to be a router for the rest of the network would be nice though |
