Hi to ya all ...
The last couple of days Ive been playing some with Perl/CPAN shell. Ive unmasked/installed Perl 5.8.0 and tried it out some. A strange thing that I see in both 5.6.1 and 5.8.0 is that its very easy to break the CPAN shell. Dont know if its me or what. (Probably ). If I say don an upgrade on the CPAN.pm module:
Code: |
# perl -MCPAN -e shell
cpan> install Bundle::CPAN
cpan> reload cpan
|
It seams to work but the installation doesnt put the newly created CPAN.pm into the path of Perl. Instead it ends upp in my ~/.perl directory even though I am root. If I then exit CPAN shell and try to get into it again I cant coz Perl complains it cant find CPAN.pm. I then copy the newly created CPAN.pm into the Perl path and it works again.
If I try to install Term::ReadLine it will compile, ask for ReadKey, fetch it and say that everything has been installed. I do a reload on CPAN but ReadLine dont work. Is these problems Gentoo Ebuild specific or is it a general Perl problem. Anyone with some real Perl experiance?
