How to configure kernel 2.6 and gentoo for cd burning?

I heard that you don't need scsi cd-rom emulation anymore, is there anything specific you need to include in the kernel so you can burn cds? or do you need to change anything in actual gentoo?

Nope... Only remember to have the IDE/ATAPI CDROM Support enabled.

I've been able to record as I've always used to (using ´cdrecord dev=/dev/hdd´ instead of whatever I used before).

Yeah, it works great, just enable the usuall stuff, compile and you can use IDE burners

Should work with 2.4 too, if your more comortable with a stable ver.

using cdrecord to burn in ATAPI mode, you use "-dev=ATAPI:0,0,0" i believe. For 2.6, this doesnt work, but temporarily "-dev=/dev/hdc" works fine. I've been using it for a while.
