Hi Gentooz.

what' s against runnin some of the rsync mirror servers on tcp/443 instead of rsyncs default port.

Most users behind coorporate firewalls have access to tcp/443 usin Proxies Method CONNECT but not to rsyncs tcp/873 due to business policies ...

Most of the gentoo rsync servers are not servin stuff on tcp/443, so why not simple mappin tcp/443 -> tcp 873 on these servers to provide the service on both ports ?

I know that emerge-webrsync exists, but using rsync is much more effective that downloading the whole file all the time.

Just thinkin.
