|
|
Hello gaming community,
Am I only one who is intrested about graphic card benchmarks?
There are coming new cards available in 4-6 month cycle and latest decent article/benchmark what I found (from tomshardware.com) was made in year 2000!! come on!
It could be nice to see how drivers are improving, how kernel version is affecting, I know that it's a lot of work but at least some popular cards from nvidia and ATI could be measured eg. comparison of geforce2 gts, geforce 4200, geforce FX 5xxx and ATI 9600, 98xx...
I am pretty sure some of you guys are working in place where you could lend these cards for eg. weekend and made some article/benchmark?
You could use eg. Quake3, Enemy territory, unreal tournament 2003 etc.
I bet you would get lot's of hits and news about it and first of all you could make huge help for linux gaming community.
just my 2c for this dark area...
- Cho

btw, what mainboard do you own? I have a MSI K7T Turbo with the KT133a chip too and MSI says it supports a XP up to 1800+ only. Though I heard a guy was running a xp 2000+ on it too... just wondering. |

I also run a 2000+ on a kt133a (with 1666 its the max I can run on this board)
But mobo's and memory are fairly cheap I noticed so its probably good for my performance to upgrade it to a nforce2 with some ddr _________________ In "old" Europe we already have a word for "pre-emptive strikes" mr Bush: its called "war" |

How do you get 32bit colors when Xfree only supports 24? |

32 bit color is really 24 bit color. There is no difference quality wise. 1 byte is allotted to each color channel. The difference is that in 32 bit color the 4th byte is wasted. This will actually improve performance in many cases because 32bit processors are more efficient accessing data in 4 byte blocks (32 bits).
